Pizza Hut's Creamy Italian Dressing

One day, when Chris and I were talking food, he mentioned that his dad LOVED Pizza Hut's creamy Italian dressing.  They used to buy it by the bottle when he was a kid (not sure if they still sell it that way or not).  I even remember a friend of mine loving it so much and doing the same thing.  A few days later, while on the internet looking for something totally unrelated, I stumbled across a copycat recipe for ... you guessed it... Pizza Hut's Creamy Italian Dressing.  So, of course, I had to try it and see if I could get it as close to what Chris remembered.  Unfortunately, it did not live up to that hype.  It was good, but as Chris said, not quite what he remembered.  So if you have never had their dressing, try this, because it's really good.  If you have, I still encourage you try it, but don't be disappointed when it doesn't take you completely back to those long lost days :)

Ingredients:
3 Tablespoons mayonnaise
1 Tablespoon red wine vinegar
1/2 Tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 Tablespoons olive oil
1-2 Tablespoons grated parmesan cheese

Directions:
Add the mayo, vinegar and lemon juice to a small bowl or measuring cup.  Stir until combined.  Crumble in the oregano, basil, thyme, rosemary, salt and pepper.  Stir to combine.  Whisk in the olive oil and parmesan cheese.  Cover or transfer to a jar with a tight lid and store in refrigerator until ready to use.  Shake well before using.  Can be made up to 1 week in advance.  Enjoy!

how funny... The Viking and were talking about Pizza Hut salads the other day and we had an argument about which dressing we used to favour... I love the thousand island dressing as I thought the creamy Italian was to acidic... i'll just have to make it to see if I was wrong... yours looks lovely of course x

Hey Jenn, This sounds very good. I don't remember their recipe though. Have a great day!

Ha! Thank you, Jenn. That sounds delicious. I may substitute yogurt for the mayo and see what happens. Sounds fantastic.

I can totally remember eating Pizza Hut pizza but the salad dressing eludes me. Still this is a good creamy dressing to dress greens anytime. Thanks for sharing.

It looks REALLY good! But that taste memory is so hard to match, even when we have the exact same recipe - there's something about memory, context, and such that also factors in ....

I think it sounds better than their dressing, although, to be honest, I've never had theirs. :)

Yeah, what Yenta Mary said, it's hard to beat nostalgia when you are cooking against someone's memory of a favorite.

This would be a great chicken marinade too, don't you think?

Hey Jenn, curious to know if you're glad you went with Google+ Do you like it?

Judy - Google + has been okay. I do like it, but haven't had the time to put a lot of effort into it, so I don't get much from it. I believe I've had more people look at my site, so that is definitely a plus. I would say if you want to move over to it, do so, but again, know that it takes work to get people to interact with you :) Hope that helps!

I have never eaten Pizza Hut's creamy Italian dressing, but the copy cat recipe does sound really yummy.

Their Creamy Italian was the dressing that went on their Hot Ham and Cheese Sandwiches also.....FABULOUS!

The Creamy Italian was used on their Hot Ham and Cheese Sandwiches circa late 70's early 80's...FABULOUS!

Heres a quicker version. It resembles PH Creamy italian better than anything ive tried. Go buy Olive Garden Italian, add miracle whip until you get your desired consistency, and add more cheese. Stir it up and you have exactly what PH was using. Give it a try.
